DARKROOM II:
Advanced Techniques
The traditional, hand-made black and white print is an important mode of photographic expression that has acquired a cachet in high-end advertising, fine art printmaking, and contemporary photo-based work.
Building on the skills developed in Darkroom I, this class will explore monochrome photographic processes in-depth, learning the controls and advanced techniques for the production of expressive black-and-white prints.
Exposure, film and format options, processing choices, enlarging, and print finishing (including toning, flattening, and spotting) will all be covered using classroom sessions and hands-on work in the darkroom. Students will work with their own images to conceive and execute a high-quality formal print of their own.
-
Darkroom chemistry is included with the registration fee. Students must provide their own darkroom paper and either 35mm or 120 negatives for printing.

Darkroom I: Foundation or equivalent.
