This online class will guide students through the elements of digital printmaking, with a heavy emphasis placed on workflow and the refinement of the print through the application of key techniques. The objective is to allow students to better see and understand the tonal and colour requirements of good prints in terms of the digital techniques for controlling them. It is expected that each student will create a small portfolio of prints by the end of the course.
Class lectures will provide the required technical and aesthetic background. Demonstration and practical application will fill the bulk of class time. Photoshop, Adobe Camera Raw (ACR), and Lightroom will be the primary software used.
Personalized tutorials will provide focused feedback to each student on their progress.
The course will offer material and approaches combining elements from the former intermediate and advanced level printmaking courses as well as my latest thinking. It should also be accessible to beginning students who are prepared to work somewhat harder.
