About
Eric Tschaeppeler is a Montreal-based artist focused on the genre of portrait photography. He recently completed his master’s thesis in photography at Concordia University. Motivated by our present socio-political and environmental challenges, Eric explores relationship dynamics and the link between personal and societal health. His themes are experiential.
Despite working in difficult, cramped conditions, Kitchen Staff show themselves with dignity - we feel the camaraderie. My intention was to photograph in a democratic way, revealing a slice of our time. These photographs were taken with a medium format film camera during the break between lunch and dinner rushes.

Eric Tschaeppeler est un artiste installé à Montréal dont le travail est axé sur le portrait photographique. Tschaeppeler a récemment terminé son mémoire de maîtrise en photographie à l’Université Concordia. Motivé par les défis sociopolitiques et environnementaux actuels, Tschaeppeler explore les dynamiques relationnelles et le lien entre la santé personnelle et sociétale. Ses thèmes sont tirés du vécu.
Bien que travaillant dans des conditions difficiles et exiguës, Kitchen Staff représente le personnel de cuisine avec dignité, et nous ressentons leur camaraderie. Mon intention était de photographier de manière démocratique, en révélant une tranche de notre époque. Ces photographies ont été prises avec un appareil photo moyen format pendant la pause entre le dîner et le souper.

The SPAO PHOTO WALK is an ongoing and evolving outdoor installation featuring large-scale photographic artworks. Designed as a photographic treasure hunt of sorts, visitors and tourists alike are encouraged to explore and engage with our vibrant Little Italy neighbourhood.
HOW ARE ARTWORKS SELECTED?
The artworks selected for the SPAO PHOTO WALK launch installation were selected from a nationwide open call and by an assessor jury made up of nationally recognized industry leaders.
