SPRING VALLEY COLONY
Tim Smith

About

Manitoba-based photographer Tim Smith has spent sixteen years documenting life on the prairies including fourteen years photographing the Hutterites; insular Anabaptists who live communally on colonies in Canada and the United States. His work is among the broadest and most extensive visual documentation of their culture ever produced.

Children play tag under a rainbow after showers at Spring Valley Hutterite Colony. From Tim Smith's ongoing 14-year-long documentation of Hutterite culture in Canada. The image came about through a mix of getting to know Hutterite culture, patience, and a stroke of luck.

This artwork location has been generously provided by Pasticceria Gelateria Italiana.
