Stephen Severn
About
Stephen Severn is a transdisciplinary artist whose practice incorporates photography, assemblage, video, and installation at the intersection of queer theory and phenomenology, where human-object relations intertwine and transform through time, space, and movement. They hold an MFA from OCADU and have exhibited internationally in group and solo exhibitions.
Rummage is a collaboration between artist Stephen Severn and designer Zoran Dobric. Created during COVID-19 lockdowns, the photograph depicts Zoran camouflaged by his SS21 textile prints. Influenced by cabin fever and adaptation, the printed fabric collage of carpets and upholstery, like the photograph, conceals, merges, and extends bodily autonomy.

Steven Severn travaille dans l’art transdisciplinaire dont la pratique, qui intègre la photographie, l’assemblage, la vidéo et l’installation, se situe à l’intersection de la théorie queer et de la phénoménologie, où les relations personne-objet s’entrelacent et se transforment à travers le temps, l’espace et le mouvement. Severn est titulaire d’une maîtrise en beaux-arts de l’université OCAD et a participé à des expositions collectives et individuelles à l’échelle internationale.

HOW ARE ARTWORKS SELECTED?
The artworks selected for the SPAO PHOTO WALK launch installation were selected from a nationwide open call and by an assessor jury made up of nationally recognized industry leaders.
