LILAC SCRAWL i
Paige Paton

About

Paige Paton is an artist based in Hamilton, Ontario. Her work manipulates how she sees the world through experimental photography and mixed media. Often starting with her own photos as the basis of more abstract visions, she aims to create unique visuals rooted in nostalgia, longing, and ambiguity.

Lilac Scrawl i is a 35mm film negative covered with marker, ink, and a Ziploc bag, then digitally manipulated. Flowers are a common focus of Paton’s art and photography. Here, she wanted to delve beyond the simple daintiness of a photo of flowers by adorning it with texture, character, and grit.
