About
Séamus Gallagher is a lens-based artist currently living in Kjipuktuk/Halifax, Nova Scotia. Gallagher's work infuses queer aesthetics with self-portraiture, video game engines, and set construction.
This work was created using a process of 3D modeling drag-inspired masks, headpieces, and costumes. Séamus then converted these digital models into paper templates, so they could print, cut, and glue them together physically. The environment was created by extracting images from an environment created using the video game engine Unity and printing them out in large-format prints.

Séamus Gallagher est un·e photographe qui vit actuellement à Kjipuktuk/Halifax, en Nouvelle-Écosse. Le travail de Gallagher intègre l’esthétique queer à l’autoportrait, aux moteurs de jeux vidéo et à la création de décors.
Cette œuvre a été créée à partir du processus de modélisation 3D de masques, de coiffes et de costumes inspirés par la culture drag. Ces modèles numériques ont ensuite été convertis en modèles papier afin de pouvoir les imprimer, les couper et les coller ensemble. Le décor a été conçu à l’aide des images d’un environnement créé sur le moteur de jeu vidéo Unity. Celles-ci ont été extraites, puis imprimées en grand format.

The SPAO PHOTO WALK is an ongoing and evolving outdoor installation featuring large-scale photographic artworks. Designed as a photographic treasure hunt of sorts, visitors and tourists alike are encouraged to explore and engage with our vibrant Little Italy neighbourhood.
HOW ARE ARTWORKS SELECTED?
The artworks selected for the SPAO PHOTO WALK launch installation were selected from a nationwide open call and by an assessor jury made up of nationally recognized industry leaders.
