Hannah Doucet is a visual artist from Winnipeg, currently based in Toronto. Working with photography, video, and sculpture, she explores fantasy, illness, body, anxiety, and performativity. Doucet has exhibited across Canada, was the inaugural winner of the PLATFORM Photography award (2017), and was long-listed for the New Generation Photography award (2019).
This piece is part of a larger body of work, titled A Wish Stays With You, which explores themes of illness, fantasy, and wish fulfillment, all observed through the lens of Doucet’s own experience receiving a wish trip to Disney World when she was ten years old after two years of treatment for Lymphoma. This image depicts a morph suit-clad hand coated in imagery of these fantasy spaces.

Hannah Doucet, artiste visuelle originaire de Winnipeg, travaille actuellement à Toronto. Elle explore la fantaisie, la maladie, le corps, l’anxiété ainsi que la performativité à travers les médiums de la photographie, de la vidéographie et de la sculpture. Doucet, qui a présenté son travail à travers le Canada, est la première lauréate du prix de photographie PLATFORM (2017) et l’une des lauréates du Prix nouvelle génération de photographes de 2023.
Cette œuvre fait partie d’un ensemble de travaux qui explore les thèmes de la maladie, de la fantaisie ainsi que de la réalisation des souhaits, tous observés à travers la lunette d’une expérience vécue par l’artiste : son voyage à Disney World, un souhait que Doucet avait réalisé à l’âge de dix ans, après deux ans de traitement pour un lymphome. La photographie présente une main vêtue d’une combinaison moulante, recouverte d’images de ces espaces fantastiques.
