GALLERY & MARKETING ASSISTANT

Overview

The Gallery & Marketing Assistant supports the daily operations and public presence of a photographic art centre, helping to ensure exhibitions, events, and communications run smoothly and professionally.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with gallery operations, including exhibition installation, artwork handling, and maintaining a clean, welcoming space

  • Provide excellent visitor services, engaging guests and answering questions about exhibitions and programs

  • Support marketing initiatives by creating and scheduling content for social media, newsletters, and website updates

  • Assist in documenting exhibitions and events through photography and video

  • Help coordinate public programs, artist talks, and special events

  • Maintain contact lists, track engagement metrics, and support outreach efforts

    • Interest in photography, visual arts, or cultural programming

    • Strong communication and organizational skills

    • Familiarity with social media platforms and basic design tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Canva)

    • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment

    This role is ideal for someone passionate about photography and eager to gain hands-on experience in both gallery operations and arts marketing.

    These positions are supported through the Canada Summer Jobs program. Eligible applicants must 30 years of age or younger and be either a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, person with refugee protection status, or otherwise legally entitled to work in Canada.

    • $18 per hour

    • Free use of the equipment and facilities when available

    • Free part-time classes for staff (subject to availability and schedule)

    • Staff team building extras i.e. events, trips etc.

  • 30 hours a week for nine weeks.
