BOOKBINDING WORKSHOP

With Spike Minogue

Learn how to bind a photobook in this workshop with expert bookbinder Spike Minogue. All materials are included.

Spike has an extensive offset printing background including traditional and digital techniques. Working for printing companies and then becoming a print buyer, she taught the technical side of printing for the graphic design diploma program at Algonquin College for ten years. Her interests shifted to bookbinding in 2012, initially training with the Canadian Bookbinders and Book Artists’ Guild (CBBAG), earning the guild’s Core Course Certificate (courses that she now teaches). Then Spike went on to North Bennet Street School in Boston for their two-year Bookbinding Diploma Program. Spike has her own Graphic Design and Bookbinding Studio in Ottawa where she has trained many new up-and-coming bookbinders/book artists and has hosted many visiting instructors in the bookbinding arts. Her graphic design accolades include producing a bi-monthly Forestry Journal for 24 years, the CBBAG Journal (produced twice a year), the Guild of Book Workers bi-monthly newsletter and designing many books to print and hand bind. She has been teaching bookbinding for over 13 years.
