What is the SPAO PATH?

Have you ever wanted to become a part of the SPAO community, advance your photographic skills, or evolve your artistic career but you don’t know where to start? Have you taken SPAO classes before but don’t know what to take next? Have you ever wondered how far you could advance or where your efforts could take you? We can help answer those questions by introducing the SPAO PATH.

The SPAO PATH is a guide that maps out all of our staple part-time studies classes, including a way to get started, possible directions of where to go next and where your journey could lead.

The SPAO PATH addresses three important things:

1. It can suggest to you where to start your journey at SPAO and where that journey could lead.

2. It can show you how you could earn a $5000 CAD bursary towards SPAO’s Diploma Program.

3. It can show you how you can meet the eligibility requirements for advanced standing (enter directly into year 2) of our Diploma Program.

We have created an infographic depicting the SPAO PATH and where your part-time studies can lead you!

  • Classes identified in RED must be completed in order to meet the eligibility criteria to apply for advanced standing in SPAO’s diploma program (exemption from year 1 of the program) OR to be eligible for a $5000CAD bursary towards the full 2-year Diploma Program. If you complete all the specific classes identified in red but are not successful in an advanced standing application, you are still guaranteed to receive a $5000 bursary for the full 2-year Diploma Program. 

    *Please note that the Part-time Studies Path may lead to a reduction of tuition fees or allow an individual for consideration of advanced standing in the diploma program; however, part-time studies classes are non-vocational and do not contribute to any form of certification or diploma.

STAPLE CLASSES

SPAO offers new classes every semester; however, below you will find a list of classes that we are guaranteed to offer at least once every calendar year.

Classes with an asterisk ( * ) in the list below indicate the courses outlined in RED in the graphic above. These specific courses must be completed in order to meet the eligibility criteria to apply for advanced standing in SPAO’s diploma program (exemption from year 1 of the program) OR to be eligible for a $5000CAD bursary towards the full 2-year Diploma Program. If you complete all the specific classes identified in red but are not successful in an advanced standing application, you are still guaranteed to receive a $5000 bursary for the full 2-year Diploma Program.
