SECOND YEAR EXHIBITION
At Open House, second year Diploma students at SPAO are entering a new phase of their artistic practices. At the end of their second year, after eight months spent developing intensive and personal projects, these students will have produced a body of work that showcases each of their individual photographic practices, including innovative installations, portfolios and books. The work you see here represents these students at the precipice of this new phase, having spent the last two months thinking about and making photographic work that will lead them to their major projects and end-of-year exhibition.
Working with a range of media including silver gelatin, alternative processes, collage, scanography, digital pigment prints and new technologies, these students will explore a range of themes within their work including portraiture, identity, gender, sexuality, mental health, the natural world, humans’ relationship with technology, politics, popular culture, and more. SPAO students complete their second year of the diploma program ready to become contemporary photographers and photo-based artists.
