PHOTO EXCURSION I:

Regional Roadtrip

Image by SPAO alum Glenn Bloodworth

Regional Roadtrip is a series of 8 half-day photo expeditions featuring a range of locations and providing the opportunity to photograph a variety of subjects, including landscape, nature, wildlife, people, events, and ceremonies.

Students can expect to improve and refine their ability to recognize interesting subject matters and execute a quality photograph on the fly. They will shoot on location using a variety of compositional skills such as framing, subject placement, negative space, and motion.

In addition, there will be dedicated time for mid-program image review, critique, and skill development built into the schedule. Participant photographers will be asked to share two assignment images from each shoot for instructor and group feedback.

  • This is a program for photographers at the intermediate or advanced level who have a high degree of comfort with manual shooting, post-production, and the use of a DSLR with interchangeable lenses. Participants will assume all responsibility for transportation to and from the shooting locations, in addition to the payment of entrance fees where required. Limited car-pooling is available for those without a car.
