JOHN HEALEY
Biography
John Healey was born in Toronto and grew up along the St. Lawrence River in Brockville, Ontario. Since 2011 he has devoted himself to teaching and lens-based image creation, landing multiple exhibitions and earning numerous accolades in the process. His creative practice is largely exploratory – his projects Head-On and Fasteners dwell on personal loss and grief, while Plastic Beach and At The End of Your Breath consider our species’ treatment of the natural world.
Skillset
John Healey is SPAO’s resident studio instructor, with a deep understanding of both natural and artificial light.
An acclaimed still life photographer, John specializes in the creation of technically challenging macro-photography.
Healey’s work has won numerous awards, and his work has been held and exhibited in a number of galleries and private collections, including the City of Ottawa.
