Overview

We are seeking to contract a remote bookkeeper, who may be required for occasional in person work at SPAO. The successful candidate will work with the Operations Manager to ensure the financial books are in good standing order for audit submissions and will prepare key charitable and regulatory filings for submission.

Key Responsibilities

  • Utlizing Quickbooks Online to ensure books are in good working order.

  • Collaborate with the Operations Manager to ensure accounts have been reconciled, invoices processed correctly, and expenses have been properly categorized.

  • Assist with budget update preparation for the Board of Directors.

  • Support the mandatory annual financial audit process by organizing the financial submission and providing necessary information to auditors.

  • Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulations.

  • All other reasonable responsibilities that a bookkeeper would undertake.

 

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Proficiency and working knowledge of Quickbooks Online

  • Knowledge or past experience working with Canadian charities, including but not limited to filling T3010 and T2 forms with the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA)

  • Knowledge of Ontario Not for Profit Corporations Act, and filings associated with ONCA

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial record-keeping.

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.

  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.

  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and integrity in handling sensitive financial information.

    • Part-time / seasonal, primarily needed in the first 2 quarters of the year

    • $25 per hour

  • Free part-time classes are available for this contractor (subject to availability and schedule)
