photography - pinhole camera CAMP (grades 3-5) is offered through GNAG
Interested in how a camera really works? Build your own camera from scratch and develop your own photographs! This camp will help teach you to build your own pinhole camera from scratch and with the use of various camera bodies. We will experiment with film and paper negatives. Through hands-on task you will gain understanding of the basic functions of an analogue camera and how it really works. Also plenty of instruction on composition as we shoot various locations around Ottawa's downtown. The possibilities are endless with the pinhole camera. We'll experiment with long exposures, multiple exposures, and other creative techniques. Each student can expect to go home with digital files of each image they created. We will also try our hands at the cyanotype printing process in the darkroom using the images created during the course of the week. All materials will be provided. Family and friends are invited to an artshow at the end of the week. Please bring a lunch and sunblock as we'll be outside most of the week.
