THE BLUE PRINT CYANOTYPE WORKSHOP
Join Alisdair MacRae in a hands-on weekend cyanotype workshop, an excellent way to learn a modern approach to one of the first photographic printmaking processes.
The New Cyanotype process uses traditional techniques with an updated recipe to produce prints with higher sensitivity to light, wider tonal range, and better absorption, all designed to create unique, handcrafted prints. The first day of the workshop will introduce the process and focus on the digital process used to create appropriate digital negatives; a skill useful throughout the alternative process realm of contact printing.
The second day will cover how to create the chemical solutions and start printing.
Students will walk away with a number of prints and the knowledge to continue to print in their own studios and homes.
Cyanotype chemistry and a limited supply of paper, acetate material, and inks are included.
Additional specialty papers, acetate material and inks will be available for purchase from SPAO .
As this is an intermediate level workshop, participants are expected to have a good knowledge of the photographic process.
Recommended prerequisites are: Classic Black and White Photography I, Film Photography Bootcamp or Foundation in Digital Photography or their equivalent.
Enrolment is limited to ensure one-on-one attention.
