This course is designed to introduce teens, aged 13-17, to the fundamentals of both film and digital photography. The course will also focus on beginner darkroom techniques and will build a strong foundation for those intrigued by the production of quality photographic images.

Through demonstrations and lectures, students will learn about film camera techniques, proper exposure control, and black and white shooting concerns. Students will gain hands-on experience in the darkroom and be introduced to the fundamentals of processing film and creating expressive black and white prints from their own negatives.

Students will also learn how to transfer skills learned in the darkroom into their digital photographic process.

Requirements: Students must have a 35mm SLR or medium format film camera AND a camera capable of shooting on Manual mode (point and shoot, DSLR, some cell phones). Email admin  [at] spao [dot] ca if you have questions.

A quantity of film, darkroom chemistry, and paper is included in the fee for this course.

PREREQUISITE: None. This is a course for teens only.
