The off-camera Speedlite is particularly well-suited for location photography. It is light, portable and does not require an AC power source. Speedlites can be adapted to almost any light modifiers, such as large octabanks, etc. - and this makes them formidable key light sources on-location.
Sessions will be spent exploring the Speedlite’s potential in a variety of environments. The focus will be to “blend” ambient light with the Speedlite, playing with the vast range of lighting possibilities with such a simple lighting tool.
This workshop is for those photographers who have taken Speedlite II or are already familiar with off-camera flash and would like to experiment further with the Speedlite on-location.
Students must have their own film or digital camera, with manual capability to adjust both aperture and exposure time. SLRs and Digital SLRs with wide-to-medium angle lens are preferred. Telephoto lenses are optional. Also required are a tripod and an electronic cable or shutter release. Familiarity with photo-editing software is an asset.
Recommended prerequisites are Speedlite II, or their equivalent. Enrolment is limited to ensure one-on-one attention.
