SHOOTING VIDEO WITH YOUR DSLR
How does one go about creating a great video interview? Or a video to capture the dynamic of family and friends?
Join former CBC news-reporter, Simon Gardner, in this one-day workshop where he guides you step-by-step through how to create fascinating, professional videos: how to achieve a cinematic look, how to connect with your subject and have them open up on screen. This course will offer a wide variety of essential video-making-skills including: how to set-up lighting for a professional interview, setting up camera moves and framing (tilting, zooming, trucking, angles, etc), recording good quality audio, basic video editing, lighting on a budget, etc.
This workshop is for those who are already familiar with shooting still pictures, but want to realize the full potential of their digital cameras by shooting great video. Students will walk away with all the basic knowledge of how to create and capture compelling videos of their own.
Simon was one of the first CBC news-reporters to take on the combined role of camera operator and reporter, known in the industry as 'video journalism.’ Simon has reported news and current affairs across Canada for CBC, CTV and ATV television stations. He has received top awards at film and television competitions across North America including at the Chicago International Film Festival for a revealing documentary about a brutal conflict in Central America.
