A PRACTICAL GUIDE TO PUBLISHING A PHOTOBOOK

One of the best ways to give your photographs worth, and to understand them a little more, is to turn them into a photobook. And these days there are plenty of ways to produce short-run books, books that you can give to friends and/or sell online. As well, the process of making a photobook brings many aspects of your photo practice into sharper focus.

This course will cover all the steps necessary for you to conceive, sequence, layout, print and distribute a photobook.

We will consider:

1/ Why you should make one and how to organize your images in a way that makes sense.

2/ The various tools, both online and physical, you can use to work on your book.

3/ How to make dummies (working prototypes) of your book as it evolves.

4/ The steps you should take to refine the look and feel of the book.

5/ The various means available to have your book printed.

6/ And a lot of other stuff you probably have never considered, like how the weight of the book affects shipping charges, how to source packaging materials to make the delivery/distribution of your book more professional, and ways and means to publicize your book.

This one day course will provide you with all the information you need to step into the world of photobooks.
