A three-day workshop that offers a unique opportunity to experience the underbelly of the photographic scene in the Big Apple. This opportunity to live a New York gallery experience is open to those interested in diversifying their photographic outlook. Participants will benefit from Guy's experience, knowledge, and an interest in art forms that push the envelope.
Participants will learn the ins and outs of the New York photographic scene and consider the differences between surviving as a commercial or a fine art photographer through a comparison of galleries that focus on photography.
Time will be dedicated to taking your camera into the field in an Arbus-like, up-close and personal way.
Prior to meeting in New York, an introductory session will be organized. A review and critique session will be scheduled after the trip. This critique may lead to a one-week exhibit at La Petite Mort.
REQUIREMENTS : DSLR camera or manual 35mm film camera and purchase their own film and processing. Video, pin-hole and phone photography may also be used. Working knowledge of camera function is expected.
NOTE : Passport, cost of airfare, meals, hotels, travel insurance and other travel expenses are the responsibility of each participant in this Safari workshop.
