LITH PRINTING

A lith print is a silver gelatin print that has been overexposed and partially developed in highly diluted lith film developer. The prints achieve a combination of tones that are only possible using the lith printing process.

Lith prints display delicate, soft, warm toned highlights and mid-tones and cool, gritty and harsh shadows. Prints can also be made to be completely cool toned, gritty and harsh or they can be left with soft delicate warm tones throughout.

The end result depends on the materials used and the printer!

All chemistry is included in the tuition. Students will have the option of using film negatives provided, or to bring in negatives of their own for printmaking. They will receive prepared lecture review materials to take home, as well as their finished prints.

PREREQUISITE: None. Film Photography Bootcamp or equivalent is recommended but not required.
