DIGITAL PRINTMAKING I: foundation
The physical object has always been a crucial part of the photographic process, but as our lives become much more screen-based, the print has become less critical to our understandings of photographs, relegated to the darkroom or the old family album. However, inkjet printmaking is increasingly becoming a critical part of many photographers' practices. Printing your images, in colour or in black and white, can make you understand your images in a whole new way.
The instructor of Digital Printmaking I, Jim Lamont, will assist students in creating better prints. The classes will be entirely hands-on, covering theory on an as needed basis. Students will be expected to have a version and basic understanding of Photoshop and/or Lightroom, and bring a laptop to class with their chosen image files and post-processing software. This class is a prequel to "The Art of Digital Printmaking", which is a more in depth course in terms of the theory and practice.
Requirements: A laptop computer with Adobe Photoshop Elements or Lightroom. Course participants are expected to be proficient with their computer and to have a basic knowledge of Photoshop. Students will supply their own paper.
